Let me introduce you to Bebel, a Congolese artist living in Ivory Coast.

Bebel operates in a musical as well tinted of hip-hop and rnb  as of typical African sounds, this sweet mix added to his hot voice gives a extraordinary result.
It is an innovation in the congolese music place, where rumba and ndombolo ordinary rules.

This videoclip is from his album « Roi des Rois »; Luvunu (meaning lie in Kikongo, a language spoken in Congo) talks of the evils of falsehood and slander.
The chorus is quite explicit:
Luvunu Mbote kele ve => lie is a bad thing(habit)
kang ‘inwa, Mvanda Swi => close your mouth, stay calm.

This video above is issued from the debut album « Lemo yassa » of  Sheryl Gambo which was a huge success, so that it already received 2 awards.

 The lyrics of this video was inspired by the war situation which bruised Congo back in 1997 and focuses on the need for promoting peace without which no development is possible. 

Discovered through her massive live performances in her native country, Congo Brazzaville, the soulful velvet-voice diva Sheryl Gambo went on to create an innovative African Urban music recipe by blending Hip Hop, Jazz, soul flavour arrangements,  R&B vibes with African grooves rooted in her native Congolese cultural heritage: the result is  Nu Afro Soul.
She makes it a point of honour by singing in African languages such as Lingala or Mbochi (both from Congo), before using French or English.

Beside her voice, what makes me crazy about her,  is the fact  she’s reflecting an innovative image of a modern Africa, inventive, enterprising and proud of her roots.

 The singer Patrick Ruffino was from his childhood, exposed to all styles of music, from  Jazz to Funk, from Reggae to Salsa, from RnB to Soul,  and of course traditional African music.  His father from Benin, mother  from Burkina Faso and his grandmother from Ghana, Patrick Ruffino is a concentrate of  West Africa, and his music the reflect of all these influences.

Funky Grooves from Brazzaville ( Republic of Congo).  Released in the early 80′s years by the congolese Rod a.k.a. Roch Niangandoumou, this hit was for weeks in the top of the charts.  The best part of this, according to my opinion, is the rap part in lingala. I love such fusions between african langages, rhythms, beats etc… and european or american beats, rhythms.

Rod live actually in Belgium and keep doing his thing.

Let me introduce Takef to you. Takef is a hero of the youth’s magazine Planète-Jeunes. Created in 2003 by Willy Zekid, his adventures are now known to all readers from Africa, Caribbean and Pacific countries (in which the magazine Planète-Jeunes is distributed ).

Takef  is in love with Tinée. He would do anything to get a kiss from her. But it’s not so easy … When Ben, the big brother of Tinée watch on her!

Let me introduce Papou to you.  Papou is a little friendly rascal! He wants to do everything right, but that always goes wrong. But he’s loved as he is.

The adventures of Papou began in the 90′s years at Brazzaville (Republic of Congo). Created by Willy Zekid one of the best African artists of his generation, Papou was called then Nkrakounia.
For his debut in the Ivorian comic press, Willy Zekid and Lassane Zohoré renamed him Papou. At this time he become very quickly one of the main heroes of the journal Gbich and is loved by children and adults, who always laughing his gags.

What I like in him, first his face (all round, plump), his smile, his belly and then the clothing. Everything in him inspires good humor and he has this franchise and this innocence that only children have.

Généralement les mots se prononcent comme ils s’écrivent.
Sauf quand on rencontre :

• Des mots commençant par les digrammes ou trigrammes comme : « mb », « mf », « mp », « mv », « nd », « ng », « nk », « ns », « ny », « nt », « ts » et « ngb ».
• La lettre « u » en lingala se prononce « ou ». Et inversement tout ce qui se prononce « ou » s’écrit « u ».
• La lettre « ï » (i tréma) apparaît à la fin de certains mots, exemple ngaï (moi). Elle doit être prononcé avec le son de « aïe » du français, ainsi ngaï se prononcera « ngayi ».
• La lettre « e » en fonction des mots prendra soit le son « é »  ou le son « è » du français

Le Lingala est une langue bantoue parlée en République démocratique du Congo, en République du Congo, et dans une moindre mesure en République centrafricaine et en Angola.
